- This year’s 3rd annual Pumpkin Relay is in memory of Jacob Myers, 33, and proceeds of the event will be donated to his family. Jacob died this summer as the result of a car accident. He is greatly missed by his family, his friends and his community. Define Family and Farming and you have Jacob Myers. Jacob had a love for livestock and farming since a young age as he followed his grandfather and father raising feeder pigs. He graduated from Collins-Maxwell, class of 2000, then Iowa State University in 2007 with an Animal Science degree. It was from this that connected him to his beloved wife, Sarah, and they continued their passion for animals opening Our Family Veterinary Clinic located in Maxwell and Colfax. Our Family, a perfect name that exemplifies Jacob’s solid caring and steadfast supportive nature as he stood by his wife when she was diagnosed with cancer 3 times; as he was the father to 5 children sharing moments of hunting, 4-wheeling, pony riding, and toe nail painting; and as he co-created a business for the local community in which he grew up in.
